Interesting people part 4
During the late 19th and early 20th
centuries women were expected to stay home, raise families, and not risk their
lives doing stunts like riding a horse that jumped 40 feet down into a tank of
water. This slim read features fourteen
different women, famous, or not, who engaged in daring acts during a time when
to do so not only put their bodies at risk but their place in society as well.
Illustrated by Cheryl Harness, who is very interesting in
her own right. I get to see her at the Children's Literature Festival which is where she autographed our library copy!
