Interesting people part 1

I realize that when I mention the name Phineas that most students think of Phineas and Ferb. 



 But I first heard the name when I read Phineas Gage: a gruesome but true story about brain science.

                                                

  Phineas is an example of a true survivor – in 1848 a thirteen pound iron rod shot through his head while on the job as a railroad construction foreman.  He was alive but never quite the same.  I must admit, when I read this I got just a bit light headed looking at the pictures.
