Review: The Last Girl on Earth

The Last Girl on Earth The Last Girl on Earth by Alexandra Blogier
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Humans did such a bad job taking care of the earth that when the Abdoloreans arrived they chose to wipe us out and start over to save the planet. Li was the only one saved and she is a dangerous secret. Li has spent her whole life training to pass as an Abdolorean. As a human she is more fragile than they and cannot breath underwater. She's finally reached the point in her education that will decide where she will spend her mandatory military service. Her destination and role will depend on her skills and test scores. She doesn't need to be distracted by a boy, but distracted she is, and that could blow her cover, risking her life and her family's lives.

This is a fast, short sci-fi romance. It's heavier on the romance than I expected when I picked it up. The all important training seems to be almost background material. Since this book takes place on a restored/pristine earth it isn't really very "science fiction-y." Not listed as a series on Goodreads, it could be expanded by the author if she wanted to do it.
